Avital Oehler tells stories, often employing film making, photography, and/or bookmaking techniques to tell these stories.

Avital’s bookmaking work includes beautifully designed and produced handmade photobooks, zines, and artbooks.

With more than a decade of editing and story producing under her belt, Avital brings her keen eye and sharp intellect to documentaries, narrative films, social media, podcasts, commercials, and promos.

Avital is a story-sculpting powerhouse whose razor-sharp edits and narrative instincts have fueled projects for Trailer Park, The Daily Dot, History Channel, Discovery Channel, Lexus Shorts, and Relativity Media.

Avital earned a Masters of Science degree in Forensic Psychology and worked in academia on research projects involving sexual assualts in prison populations for the NIH, and backlogged rape kits for the LAPD and LASD.  After growing disillusioned with academia, she took her forensic and analytic skills into the field of film and art making.

Avital’s photography and award winning films have exhibited and screened worldwide, including at the Anthology Film Archives in New York, NY, the Meraki Film Festival in Madrid, Spain, the Los Angeles Municipal Gallery, in Los Angeles, CA, the American Documentary Film Festival in Palm Springs, CA, the Bonita Museum in San Diego, CA, CENTER in Santa Fe, NM, and the Autry Southwest Museum, in Los Angeles, CA.
