Avital Oehler (b. 1978, Haifa, Israel) is an art bookmaker, video editor, story producer, and voice actor.
Avital designs and produces monographs, art books, and zines by hand, or uses basic modes of production to make and distribute her books.
Avital’s video work include documentaries, marketing campaigns, social media videos, and narrative work. She story produces, edits, and does voice over.
Avital earned a Masters of Science degree in Forensic Psychology and worked in academia on research projects involving sexual assualts in prison populations and backlogged rape kits for the LAPD. After growing disillusioned with academia, she decided to take her forensic and analytic skills into the field of film and art making, concluding that this is a more productive way to work through and share ideas.
Avital’s photography and award winning films have exhibited and screened worldwide, including at the Anthology Film Archives in New York, NY, the Meraki Film Festival in Madrid, Spain, the Los Angeles Municipal Gallery, in Los Angeles, CA, theAmerican Documentary Film Festival in Palm Springs, CA, the Bonita Museum in San Diego, CA, CENTER in Santa Fe, NM, and the Autry Southwest Museum, in Los Angeles, CA.
