Protect and Serve.... the CVS

In 2020, during the intensifying tensions between Black Americans and the Police, I wanted to make something to try and wrap my head around this situation. I started with a simple google search, using the keywords “cop chokehold.” What I found was a shocking array of images of white cops putting Black Americans, mostly male, in chokeholds.
At the same time, the news was laser-focused on telling stories that showed the destruction of property by the hands of protestors of police brutality. I noticed that the language used by the reporters to describe damage to windows, trashcans, cars... etc can be used to describe the way the police treat people of color.
In the video, Protect and Serve... the CVS, I combine the audio of these news reports with the google images that came up during my search in order to conflate the two.
